Recently, I received an email from a reader asking about gargoyle flight. She wanted to know if gargoyles fly with their bodies “vertical to the ground or horizontal to the ground”.
When gargoyles fly, they take off vertically but soon change to horizontal flight. This would be difficult if they were built like humans because gravity would pull their legs down and it would take a tremendous amount of strength to keep them up. But gargoyles can lock their spines (much like horses lock their legs when they sleep in a standing position) so horizontal flight is no problem for them.
